What's New for the 2023 Volvo XC60?
The new XC60 is getting a few updates for the new model year. Most notably, the infotainment system is being switched to an Android-based platform. This provides a more user-friendly interface and expands app compatibility. In addition, there are new engine options, including a mild hybrid and a hybrid plug-in. Both of these should offer improved fuel economy over the standard gas engine. The XC60 will also be offered with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Finally, there's a refreshed exterior design, updated front and rear features, and new wheel designs. Volvo no longer calls its hybrid system the T5 and T6 as in 2022. Expect to see these as B5 and B6 for the hybrid and T8 for the plug-in hybrid.
Hybrid Engine Configurations
The 2023 Volvo XC60 offers a turbocharged and supercharged B6 hybrid powertrain that delivers 295 horsepower, up to 19 miles of electric-only driving, and an estimated 23/30 miles per gallon for city/highway. The B6 brags 0-60 acceleration times in 5.4 seconds. The lower B5 gets 247 horsepower on the turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but there is no supercharge feature like with the B6.
Lastly, Volvo offers the more aggressive T8 Polestar engineered features a plug-in hybrid powertrain with two electric motors that produce 455 horsepower, 523 pound-feet of torque, and a combined 63 MPGe.
Superior Road Performance
The 2023 Volvo XC60 will continue with the same suspension as from 2022 but will have optional adaptive dampers and performance upgrades such as 21-inch wheels. While the electric range is 19 miles on electric only for the T8, the XC60 with this engine can be charged on a 110 or 220-volt outlet. Interior and Exterior Design
Expect to see major changes with the Plug-in Hybrid model, such as the option to have skinless leather seats to make the Volvo XC60 a true environmentally friendly option for Windsor, CO, drivers.
