With the automotive world making a big push toward electrification, Volvo has pledged to have a completely electrified lineup by the year 2025. With the 2023 Volvo lineup featuring all mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid models alongside a growing crop of EVs, its safe to say that they’ve hit their target. At Pedersen Volvo Cars, we’re excited to show off both the mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid Volvo models for sale at our Fort Collins dealership, so you know what to expect when you make the trip from Loveland or Greeley to pay us a visit.
What is Volvo Mild-Hybrid Technology?
Volvo’s mild-hybrid system is the most invisible of all the electrified Volvo platforms. This system puts an electric motor between the transmission and the wheels, helping provide an extra boost of torque under acceleration and maintain a cruising speed when driving through the city. In this way, a mild-hybrid system helps improve efficiency and take stress off of the gasoline engine at times when fuel efficiency is at its worst, helping you save at the pump and reducing wear and tear on drivetrain components. It’s a sneaky, simple way to add efficiency and improve city air quality without adding significant costs or drastically altering your driving experience.
How do Volvo Plug-in Hybrids Work?
The Volvo Plug-in Hybrid system is much more sophisticated, but it also gives you bigger benefits for both performance and efficiency, depending on what you’re looking for. Those who want an engaging drive will appreciate that the Volvo Plug-in Hybrid powertrain is the most powerful option available, delivering 415 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque through the all-wheel drive system when used in conjunction with the twincharged gasoline engine. And those who are looking for an environmentally-friendly way to tackle the morning commute will appreciate that you can use electric power alone for up to 41 miles, depending on the plug-in hybrid Volvo model you decide to bring home.
